Entry for April 24, 2009
This is a photo of the large wall piece I just finished. It is 52" in height. It is supposed to depict Ophelia floating dead in the water. I used the 1852 portrait of Ophelia by Sir John Everett Millais as a starting point and updated the idea to suit my own vision. A few art things are coming up. The box show auction in Auburn finishes up on May 2. The art show benefiting the local homeless shelter opens at the Center for the Arts on Monday, April 27 and culminates in a "wine and chocolate" reception on May 3, 2-4pm. Kate and I both have work in that. Kate and I will also be hanging our show at Java John's cafe in Nevada City which will be up for the month of May. I am participating in a ceramic show in Sacramento at a new division of the Solomon Dubnick Gallery on 25th St. this May. Hopefully, the pictured piece will be included. The show has a lot of artists in it and not a lot of room, so I'm not sure how much work will be allotted each artist. There is a very nice full page ad for the show in the May Ceramics Monthly.
